Job Description

Day to Day Accountabilities:

  • Works with Food Service and Operations teams to ensure our stores maintain a food safe environment and culture
  • Actively seeks to understand potential food safety threats to our consumers and business
  • Leads and establishes cross functional meetings to gain support and alignment with Operations, Marketing, Food Service, Legal, Construction, Equipment services, among others to develop food safety systems
  • Collaborates with the food service, marketing, and equipment teams on the concept to deployment process.
  • Is the main point of contact for our territory and regional managers with regards to local health department inspections
  • Works with local municipalities to ensure food code compliance
  • Preforms food safety audits throughout our store portfolio to evaluate store compliance with food safety systems

Essential Job Function:


< >Analyze and assess food safety risk and apply measures and controls to mitigate risks to an acceptable level.Contribute to the design of new products, store layouts, equipment, processes and procedures with risk assessments, establishing food safety requirements and review and approval processes.Provide regulatory guidance and support for retail & promotional merchandise.Measure, analyze and report restaurant compliance to food safety systems standards through audit and inspections; directly or by operations teams.Support and maintain operations assessment toolsSupport improvement, corrective and preventative actions with operations teams.Identify and maintain 3rd Party relationships and support providers, inclusive of identification, capability assessment, qualifications, performance measurement and calibration to brand standards and requirements.Provide technical and subject matter expertise as required.Provide support and resolution for shop food safety related questions, complaints and incidents.Provide, review and maintain all food safety content in training materials, videos, courses, and brand standards documentation.Conduct regional educational sessions as required.Establish & maintain relationships with local & state health departmentsAdditional Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


< >Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Culinary, Public Health or related field.  5 or more years’ experience in retail food safety, regulatory, quality assurance, food safety training or related food industry experienceExperience in restaurant operations, equipment and design for food safety Nationally Recognized Food Protection Manager Certification Certified Professional – Food Safety (CP-FS) credential preferredWorking knowledge of Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points, (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices, (GMP’s), Food and Drug Administration, (FDA) Model Food Code, Code of Federal Regulations, (CFR), and general microbiology.In-depth knowledge of operational best practices, with a focus on restaurant/convenience store industry a plus.Computer proficiency of Microsoft products including Excel

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Position is 50% performed from an office environment and will require 50% of car and air travel in support of the position responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. While performing this job the employee may be required to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods of time in a restaurant and outdoor environment. The assist to lift/shift countertop equipment as part of setting up tests in lab and field test sites; work in the lab and in restaurants to evaluate tests at appropriate time of day and day of week; assist in opening new concepts and is hands on training and coaching new team members.
